Avon Nourishing Lip Oil 7 ml: Bare Lips or Over Lipstick?
You do not have to put lipstick underneath Avon Nourishing Lip Oil. The South African directions describe two options: use it directly on bare lips, or apply it after lip liner and lipstick. The choice is about how you want to use the product in your make-up routine, not about one method being compulsory.
Option one: oil on bare lips
This is the simpler route when you do not want a separate lipstick step. The brand describes the result as gloss with a small amount of tint. Choose the oil's shade itself, rather than assuming that every option is colourless. The product page checked on 28 October 2026 displayed Blossom as the selected shade; that does not mean it is the only shade available.
Before buying, decide whether you actually want a tinted, shiny product. Someone looking for an opaque matte lip colour is asking for a different finish. A product photograph is useful for identifying the tube, but it cannot show exactly how a tint will look on every person's lips.
Option two: oil after liner and lipstick
For the layered route, the local instruction places the oil after lip liner and lipstick, as a glossy finishing layer. It does not say that the oil should go underneath those products. Nor does it give a fixed number of strokes, a drying countdown or a guarantee that any lipstick underneath will become transfer-proof.
Keep the purpose of that last layer clear: adding shine is not the same as setting lipstick. If you want to retain a matte-looking finish, adding a product presented as glossy may not match that aim. Check the directions for your chosen lipstick as well; this page does not establish compatibility with every lip formula.
Read the product name, not just “nourishing”
The exact item discussed here is Avon Nourishing Lip Oil, 7 ml. The South African search also returned a separately named Ultra Colour Lip Gloss Nourishing Shine in the same size. The word “nourishing” and a matching volume do not make those two products identical. Check the full name and selected shade on the item you are considering.
When choosing between the two application routes, finish is the useful question. “I want a little tint without lipstick” points to the bare-lip route described by Avon. “I already chose my lip colour and want shine on top” points to the layered route. “I want my lipstick to stay matte” is a different aim; the oil's glossy description does not answer it. These examples explain the choice, not predict a result on your lips.
What this guide does not promise
These application options come from the local product instructions, not our own wear test. They do not establish how many hours the finish will last, how often you will need to reapply, or how it will look over your particular lipstick. No SPF, clinical moisturising result or medical benefit is evaluated here.
For the ingredients and warnings, use the information accompanying your exact product and the official page's full-instructions link. Keep that separate from choosing a colour effect. The practical decision remains straightforward: the oil alone for the brand's tinted-gloss approach, or the oil after lip colour when you want to add a glossy layer.
