Avon Prep & Blur Primer: before foundation, after moisturising

The South African directions for Avon Prep & Blur Primer 30 ml place it on clean, moisturised skin, with foundation afterwards. That sequence answers the main practical question: this is a make-up preparation step, not a cleanser and not the foundation itself. Check that the product in your hand is Prep & Blur before borrowing directions from a different Avon primer.

Follow the stated order

  1. Prepare the skin. The directions start with skin that is already clean and moisturised. The primer is not presented as the washing step. Keep your usual product instructions available instead of assuming one new product replaces the rest of your routine.
  2. Apply a small amount. That is the quantity described by Avon. The page does not give a fixed number of pumps or a measured dose. Avoid turning an informal “pea-sized” example into a manufacturer's instruction.
  3. Blend evenly. The brand directs attention to areas with visible pores or excess shine while blending across the face. This is an application instruction, not permission to keep building thick layers until the skin looks like a promotional photograph.
  4. Follow with foundation. Keep the two products distinct when checking your result. A problem with the foundation shade is not solved simply by adding more primer.

Pink in the tube does not mean a pink foundation shade

Avon describes the light-pink formula as blending clear. Do not choose it as though it were a numbered foundation shade or promise that it will colour-correct every complexion. The advertised soft-matte appearance is a cosmetic finish. The word “blur” describes an intended visual effect, not the permanent removal of pores.

What the directions do not specify

The checked page does not prescribe an exact waiting time before foundation. Do not invent a compulsory two-, five- or ten-minute timer and attribute it to Avon. It also does not provide a fixed number of applications per 30 ml tube. Usage will depend on the amount applied, so a cost-per-application calculation needs your own measured usage rather than a guessed number.

If you compare prices, keep the product and size identical and use the price actually available through your purchase route. A larger discount on a different primer is not a like-for-like comparison. This guide deliberately does not lock in the promotion displayed on the day of our check.

A useful first-use note

Record the exact primer, the moisturiser and foundation used with it, and a brief observation of the finished make-up. Keep those observations separate from the brand's claims about wear or oil control. Changing several products at once makes it harder to tell which change you preferred. A single use is not evidence that a product will perform the same way for everyone.

Read the pack's warnings and the full usage information linked from the official product page. Ingredient names highlighted in a description are not the complete ingredient list. If the pack and a web summary disagree, clarify the exact version with the brand instead of combining directions from both.

Why the catalogue link is labelled as an archive

Our March Avon brochure provides a separate catalogue reference. It is not evidence that Prep & Blur was offered in that issue or that an old campaign price is available now. The application steps above come from the current South African product page, not from a recycled catalogue year.
